Our itinerary
With eight months to go, we’re still bringing all the details together… but here’s a little preview of what awaits us in Kerala.
As the big day approaches, we’ll update this itinerary with more detail.

We ask our guests to please arrive in Kochi by Wednesday 20 January. Check into hotel from 2pm onwards, and rest up for tomorrow. No activities scheduled for today - so check in on your own time. If flying in from Melbourne, most flights on 20th arrive late-night.

Morning activity: Indian Attire at Almarah by Pulimoottil Silks
After breakfast we will visit Almarah by Pulimoottil Silks, to make purchases of traditional Indian clothing. We ask all guests to wear traditional Indian attire for our Madhuramveppu event, so this is the ideal opportunity to make this purchase.
Almarah by Pulimoottil is a large Indian-wear store, with a very extensive range of traditional clothing options for women and men. It's a very fascinating place to explore local fashion and customs.
We will also provide names of other stores you can visit, should you wish to shop independently, and/or add Indian accessories to your outfit.
Late afternoon activity: Walking tour of Fort Kochi
Optional activity: A local guide will take you on a walking tour of Fort Kochi, to learn more about the city's multi-faceted colonial history.

Early afternoon: Drive from Kochi to Thodupuzha
By learly afternoon, we will check out of the hotel, and make a 2-hour bus journey to Thodupuzha, the Groom’s hometown.
Evening: ‘Madhuramveppu’ at Groom’s family home
Upon arrival in Thodupuzha, we will check into our accomodation, rest up, and get ready for the traditional pre-wedding ‘Madhuramveppu’ function at the Groom’s family home. It will be a night of joy, music and tradition.
For ladies wearing a saree - a professional drapist will help you to tie and secure the outfit.
The Madhuramveppu will run from evening, until late.

Morning: Bus to Backwater Ripples, Kumarakom
By morning, we will check out of our hotel and travel approximately 2 hours to our beautiful resort on the Kumarakom backwaters, where we will stay for two nights.
Check in and enjoy a traditional Kerala ‘sadhya’ group lunch (dishes served on a banana leaf and eaten with your hands).
Late afternoon: Boat Cruise and Cocktail Evening
After lunch, take rest or perhaps enjoy the resort grounds, before we aboard an iconic Kerala ‘houseboat’ for a sunset cruise on the gorgeous lake Vembanad. Upon our return, we’ll enjoy a cocktail evening together with traditional Kerala cultural performances.

Morning: Choose your own adventure
Take the morning at your own pace and make the most of the resort and its beautiful surroundings.
Late-afternoon: Wedding ceremony and reception
In the late afternoon, we’ll make our way to a neighbouring property for the wedding ceremony. The civil ceremony will take place on a stunning palm tree–lined lawn, followed by post-ceremony drinks.
As the evening unfolds, we’ll return to our resort (Backwater Ripples) for the wedding reception, set against the magic of the backwaters. Bring your energy and your dancing shoes… it’s going to be a night to remember!

For those flying out today, leave 2 ½ hours to drive from Backwater Ripples to Cochin International Airport.
